Ik ben geboren in 1963 het jaar van de zwaarste Elfstedentocht aller tijden, daar is mijn liefde voor water geboren in vloeibare en bevroren toestand. Na behalen van 3 kruisjes en het begeleiden van Maarten van der Wieden met zijn zwemelfstedentocht, is geen vaarwater in Friesland waar ik niet ben geweest. Verder zeil ik wedstrijden in de Regenboog, de koningin van het water.
