First, let me say that Captain Javier and his first mate, Armando, were terrific! Both were helpful, professional, and friendly. Armando was terrific at making suggestions for the charter to be more comfortable. Javier was great at making suggestions for places to stop near Isla Mujeres for snorkeling and swimming. We saw tons of wildlife, and I'd definitely hire both to pilot a boat for me again (without hesitation). My ratings above in no way reflect the very excellent service they provided. The booking experience the communication leading up to the charter were nearly non-existent. I did hear from someone named Juan who answered my questions, but seemed to have difficulty getting ahold of Eduardo (the owner? non entirely clear?) to change the calendar date of the charter and get answers to some basic questions, such as, what supplies (e.g., towels, food, drinks, water, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, etc.) are provided? What do I need to bring myself? Some of these questions were not answered until the morning of the charter as I was getting a ride to the pier! Luckily, I'm kind of a boy scout, so I was ready. I imagine that others would have arrived and been disappointed. Since communications were sketchy, I almost called Visa to block the charges, But, lucky for Eduardo and Luis, I have friends who live in Cancun who could verify the legitimacy of the charter and service. Though, my friend in Cancun did tell me I was being overcharged. The boat itself needs some work. I thought I had chartered the new Juneau 45', which I was ridiculously excited about. The Juneau was the boat advertised when I clicked on "pay" using the app--paying over $1800 for the charter. However, upon arriving at the pier, we were led to a much older sailboat, and we could see the Juneau moored across the way. False advertising, for sure. When the engines were running, exhaust filled the cabins below and was pretty strong on deck as well. Luckily, we had good winds for sailing and we didn't need the engines much at all. In addition, the boat wasn't really prepped. We ran out of fresh water about 2/3 of the way through an 8 hour charter. I was hoping to get cleaned up on the boat after snorkeling, swimming, backing in the sun, whatever, but it didn't happen. I did bring 4 gallons of my own drinking water, so I made my own shower. There were really some simple things that would go along way to improve the service. I would have rated every aspect of the experience with 1 star, but, if not for Javier and Armando, the experience would have been wrecked. If I could, I'd rate their work as 5 stars. (Thanks, guys!) When I by my own boat, I'll definitely hire you! Eduardo Balam, the contact through Click and Boat, and Luis, supposedly the boat's owner, were pretty much unresponsive. They did get back to me about my questions, but, as I said, not until we were already on our way to the pier, and not until after the charter was finished. I will not be doing business with them again.
